Artist Statement
An Umbrella is a very special thing, wet or dry it is worth holding tight, when that umbrella is stolen form your grasp...well that's another thing altogether.
This figures downfall, his loss, his private vulnerabilities, are showcased here for the world to see. Alone at the bus stop he sits, bracing for the next downpour.
The animation he showcases is hand drawn, 5 minutes and 9 seconds in length it is created on canvas and found papers through the laborious stop gap process. Looped on an internal monitor concealed in earthenware and mixed media, these elements all culminate to create a figure of pathos. His tragos is exposed across his chest for the world to see.
