Shortlisted Artists Announced

The successful forty applicants are Ross Annels, Wanda Bennett, Melissa Cameron, Michael Ciavarella, Courtney Coombs, Laurindo De Abreu Soto, Rowley Drysdale, Robert Delves, Caren Elliss, Chantelle Fisher & Eleisha Nylund, Hew Chee Fong, Russell Fuller, Shannon Garson, Robyn Gill, Mandy Gunn, Lyndal Hargrave, Cath Johnston, Locust Jones, Alicia Kane, Erin Keys, Sherrie Knipe, Peta Kruger, Alice Lang, Tina Lee, Ange Leech, Wendy McGrath, Dobin Moon, Caroline Phillips, Josephine Prestipino, Ann Russell, Carly Scoufos, Tracy Smith, Petra Svoboda, Suzannah Terauds, Terence Thallon, Christina Waterson, Amanda Watson-Will, Di West, Shona Wilson and Caitlin Yardley.

This diverse group of Australian artists, designers and craftspeople will captivate crowds with their works made from ceramic, paper, plastics, found items, glass, wood, felt, stone, metal, recycled pianola scrolls, twigs, typewriter, bees wax silver and more.

In addition to the main prize, student prizes will also be awarded to both Tertiary and Secondary Sunshine Coast students. Yeats Gruin and Glenda Stasse are in the running for the Tertiary prize where the winner will receive a $2000 scholarship towards study overseas or in Australia, plus an exhibition in the Foyer Space of the Noosa Regional Gallery.

Chloe Killip and Sophia Goldschmidt are secondary students in the running to receive $1000 towards study programs or study materials.

There will also be a People’s Choice Award where members of the public can vote for their favourite artist. The winner of this award will be announced 20 August 2010.
